Volunteer Opportunities
Administrative Volunteer: An administrative volunteer is may be responsible for a number of things. They take attendance, check in with various teachers to see whether they need copies, supplies etc. They provide assistance where needed to ensure the school runs smoothly through the day. This volunteer needs to be flexible and willing to do what needs to be done.
Teacher Assistant Volunteer: A teaching assistant volunteer tests students, grades papers, is fully or partially responsible for a group of students, and may be required to serve in an administrative capacity for the class teacher. Teacher Volunteers are expected to attend required meetings and participate in teacher events. They are also expected to attend every Sunday and may be subject to testing.
Event Coordination Volunteer: Event Coordination volunteers assist with helping Sunday School put on events. This may include cooking food, decorating the venue, managing the logistics, raising funds for the event, coming up with ideas for the events etc. Volunteers need to be creative and dependable.
Teacher Training Volunteer: We are interested in training our teachers. We have three methods of training that we would like to roll out.Volunteering in this capacity requires professional teaching experience
- A monthly evaluation that allows for one-on-one Q&A and support. Volunteers in this capacity will meet with their assigned teacher once a month to answer or address any questions or obstables.
- Virtual trainng consisting of providing regular content for our wikispaces for teachers to browse at their leisure. Volunteering in this capacity requires basic to intermediate computing skills and a firm grasp on teaching methodologies
- In Summer 2011, we plan on rolling out a Sunday School Teacher Certification. We need volunteers for designing the curriculum for this training and to teach the material within this training. Volunteering in this capacity requires that individuals have a strong teaching and curriculum design background.
