Assalamu Alaikum,

I hope you took into account that Ramadan is most likely to start insha'Allah on August 1st. Do you really want to start classes during the last ten days?

Wa'alaikum Assalam,

I don't think we should delay school just because it is the last 10 days of Ramadan. Half of our students don't actually know what the significance of these days are and I think having school would really help bring Islam into reality. You can talk about Surah Qadr in Quranic Studies, and ask students to write 50 things they want to make Dua for and teach them the appropriate way to make dua during Islamic Studies.

Salam to all,

I love the teacher planning days however I am skeptical if any teachers will come considering it isn't mandatory (or are those classes for certification),

Registration is always hectic adding orientation for parents may not be the best idea because parents are coming in throughout the school day and not only before 12.

Nonetheless, while the parents are at orientation, what will we do with the students? I feel that since we know who (among the teachers) will and will not be here next year I think we should give out duties to every teacher so that each teacher is involved in testing students and assigning them to classes (on that note I think the registration form needs a place inserted to put Salah class). The beginner KG class should probably have at least 3 teachers assigned because of crying children, prying parents, and the class itself.

I personally would like more information about this winter camp... there aren't many outdoor activities you can do in winter...

As an addendum to Br. Khalid's note about arriving the school on time, I think there should be a sort of buffer in the time span so I think that teachers should be expected to arrive at 10:10 but no later than 10:15 so that we can be late but on time, I know we can probably do this to ourselves, but I usually don't so I think it will be more affective coming from the administration. Doors of the school should open at 10:15. (this is relevant to this discussion because I noticed you put schedules on special days ... you forgot about graduation day but that's cool :)

Bakhtawar

PS: If this didn't make much sense sorry I sometimes slip into stream of consciousness.
Greetings! What is the 'teacher planning days' for? Also, I think it's neat that something is planned for the winter/Christmas holidays. I hope it will be a lot of fun (and a learning opportunity too). I have a suggestion: why don't we have a international day or something? There are students from all over the world coming to Sunday school. It's a great way to learn about other Muslims/countries/culture. Also I'd like to see more teacher/parent mingling opportunities. Parents rarely come for the teacher/parent meetings (either because they didn't know about it or had something else to do). Also, I heard that the students would like something else to eat besides pizza. I have heard this request from my students as well. I would like to help in that department.
Assalam wa'alaikum everyone! I am so excited about helping teach this year (my planning wheels are turning as we speak) .I know teacher planning starts on the seventh and my only concern is that I am not available before 4pm that day. The time isn't posted on the information page so please let me know if this will conflict with anything that is scheduled for that day. Thank you

Salam Jannah,

We are pleased to welcome you aboard!  The 7th will be a planning day focused more on policies to be published to parents and teachers.  However, the teacher training will actually take place on August 13th which is a saturday.  This was a discussion item that was placed for discussion last year.  The current calendar can be found at this link http://dunssunday.com/page/calendar.  Let me know if you have any questions!
